How the Outpost handles messages and basic site activity.
Updated 15 October 2026.
Messages you send
The contact form stores the name, optional reply email, source link and message you provide in a private WordPress editorial inbox. It does not publish the message or add you to a newsletter. Administrators use this information to assess and respond to your enquiry. Please include only information relevant to it.
We retain messages while handling the enquiry and, where relevant, as part of its research record. Contact details that are no longer needed should be removed when a case is closed. You can use the contact form to ask about access to or removal of your message.
Basic site activity
The Outpost’s activity counter stores daily totals for page views, reading-path selections and clicks to the two retailers. It uses broad arrival categories such as social, search and direct. It does not set analytics cookies or store visitor profiles, raw referral URLs, search terms or browsing histories. Aggregate counts are kept for up to 400 days.
To limit automated submissions, the server temporarily keeps a keyed identifier derived from the connection address. These rate-limit entries expire after one hour and are separate from the activity totals. Standard hosting and security logs may also record requests.
External services and links
The site uses externally hosted fonts and some source or retailer images. Your browser contacts those providers to load those resources. Following a retailer or source link takes you to a separate service with its own information practices. The retailers handle purchases and customer accounts.
Newsletter
Newsletter signup is not currently active. The contact form is for correspondence with the editorial team.
